And so they decide to go inside… Hotel Transylvania Rated PGĬount Dracula and his daughter Mavis run a lavish resort when monsters can get away from it all (and by “all” they mostly mean annoying humans). Monster House rated PGĪ couple of kids and their babysitter begin to notice increasingly creepy things going on at a house in their neighborhood. NOTE: out of all the movies on the list, this one could be considered bloody, but it’s pretty tame compared to horror movies of today. Even though it’s dated, it’s still a fun scary option for tweens and teens. ![]() This classic movie about attempts to find and kill a giant shark includes what might be the the creepiest music ever. Note: there are a few innuendos that will go over most younger kids’ heads. ![]() This movie isn’t actually very scary, but it’s one of the most fun movies you’ll ever watch. Six guests show up at a mysterious mansion and find out there’s a murderer amongst them. Three siblings find a secret room, a locked chest, and a book marked “Do Not Read.” The book gets opened (of course!) and ogres, goblins, and more come out. This creepy and clever animated movie is probably too scary for little kids, but will delight tweens. Victor and Victoria are engaged to be married, at least until Victor accidentally marries a corpse. A little bit scary and more than little bit quirky (thank you Tim Burton), and a lot of fun. This darkly comedic stop motion film follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin king of Halloween, as he tried to take over Christmas. There’s no blood, no gore, and no cursing, but plenty of chills and thrills in this Disney classic. This is another older film, but it’s surprisingly spooky. This is the perfect scary movie for tweens! A strange old lady that lives in the woods, fog covered swamps, and a blindfolded girl that appears in mirrors.
